Matthew and Kimber, along with a group of their friends, founded a non-profit to bring the first annual Helena Valley Highland Gathering. As president of the organization, Matthew announced at the opening ceremony. Following the clan announcement, Matthew turned to Kimber and asked if she would be his wife. Of course, she said yes and got to celebrate with their friends and family.
Matthew and Kimber's first date was a blind date. Kimber's mother, Holly, and Matthew's best friend and Boss, Jack, decided to set up the happy couple. Kimber had just moved home from college to find that her family was having a hard time getting water to the house. Her parents hired Western Water Wells and consequently met Jack and Matthew. Matthew had just moved to Helena to work for Jack and didn't know many people. Holly thought that Matthew was cute and around her daughter's age, so she asked Jack if he was single and if he thought he would go on a date with Kimber. Jack loved the idea and planned a picnic for their first date. The night of May 1st, Matthew came to the Mook's home and picked Kimber up. He opened the door for her and drove them to Jack's property where a picnic table and fire pit were waiting for them. It was a night full of laughter, competition through yard games, and deep conversation to get to know each other.
After a year of being friends and developing their careers, Kimber asked Matthew out on a date. Matthew went over to Kimber's apartment where she had a romantic dinner set. They enjoyed a conversation over the sausages and cabbage at the candle-lit table. They cuddled up to a movie and two days later added the label of boyfriend and girlfriend. From this date on, they spent very little time apart.
Matthew and Kimber chose to seal their wedding invitations and announcements with a stag. The stag is the crest for Clan Mackenzie. Usually the royal stag, or 12 pointed stag, is reserved only for royalty. The emblem was bestowed upon Colin of Kintail, the first chieftain of Clan Mackenzie, after he saved the life of King Alexander III of Scotland from the fury of a charging stag.
