We were blessed to be able to have an intimate wedding ceremony in May despite the pandemic, but we are very excited to affirm our love again and celebrate with all of our friends and family on October 3rd!
We first met on a day that I don’t remember well, but Nick does. I was a sophomore studying Chemistry at the University of Toledo, while Nick was pursuing a PhD in Chemistry. As I’ve been reminded over the years, I came into the help center where Nick was working and asked for assistance with one of my lab assignments. He says that from that moment, he was hooked. I, on the other hand, was far too hooked on figuring out my science problem to pay too much attention to the handsome grad student helping me. We met again a few months later when I joined UT’s Chemistry fraternity. Nick was already a member and was in charge of planning the first event for incoming recruits. The event was a multi-hour scavenger hunt wherein the new members had to carry large Chemistry textbooks as part of a mild mannered initiation. Because Nick remembered me from months before, my book was significantly shorter and lighter than any of the others. After that, we had many adventures that eventually turned a best friendship into the best relationship.
Nick proposed on my 28th birthday. I was doing a rotation in the ICU during my intern year of residency, and it was a particularly difficult day at work. When I opened my apartment door I was excited to see his face, and probably just as excited to see the delicious birthday dinner he made. After dinner, Nick got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was so sweet and unexpected after a hard day, but it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made.
