This hometown nine are in town the weekend of our wedding, hosting the Boston Red Sox. You could catch them Friday evening or Sunday afternoon, but not on Saturday because our wedding takes place that day. Our prediction for that weekend series is a Twins sweep!
Lagooooooooooom!
A very, in our opinion, adorbs neighborhood in St. Paul. Adorbs for walking around. Adorbs for eating at WA Frost or Moscow on the Hill. Adorbs for getting a cup of "java" at Nina's Coffee. And finally, adorbs for standing agape in the face of the stunning architecture of the Cathedral of St. Paul.
The only lefse not made by our grandmothers that we trust.
A perfectly agreeable place to take a stroll in most kinds of weather!
Stunning indoor conservatory, sprawling outdoor park, a walkable lake, a random statue of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, and a zoo. All free!
If you seek a pleasant historic district of small homes on quarter-sized lots, look about you when you get to Milwaukee Avenue in Minneapolis's Seward Neighborhood.
Good place to pass the time!
Minneapolis is known for its "Jucy Lucy," and this is the original and the best.
Another great place for a burger and/or other delicious fare. A hole-in-the-wall joint!
Very good pho and bahn mi sandwiches.
A wonderful homage to the supper clubs of our youth. Talkin' prime rib, popovers, and french-or-ranch salad dressings.
The Minneapolis Institute of Art is free and worth every penny! Early in our relationship, we came here to see an exhibit on the Paranormal in American Art. We recall discussing at length a painting by Grant Wood (of "American Gothic" fame) in which we both took considerable interest. That exhibit likely won't be there, but something worth seeing will be!
Stately architecture and pleasant promenades. Mark spent nine years of his life here as an undergraduate and graduate student.
When we first met, this pizza pie shop was directly betwixt our two apartments in the Kingfield neighborhood of Minneapolis. We have convened here many an evening and split the pepperoni-pickle pie, possibly the best of its kind in the county!
Darn good coffee shop in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood of St. Paul. We come here regularly to work and to converse!
Call us morbid, but we walk around here all the time. You won't regret touring the mausoleum and the chapel (both free). About the latter (according to a brochure), an "unknown journalist in 1931" said the following: "If this were somewhere in Europe, thousands of Americans would visit it each year. Never have we seen anything to equal it in this country—not even the famous mosaics of the Library of Congress at Washington impressed us so greatly." High praise from the anonymous scribe. If we do say so ourselves, we concur!
