Dylan and Samantha met online on Whisper. That seems to be how many couples these days have met. Whisper is an anonymous social networking app. Samantha posted a post stating how she wanted someone to talk to. Dylan saw the post and responded. From then on, the rest is history.

Dylan was standing on the sidewalk on 23rd Street in Cedar Falls, Iowa waiting for Samantha to come meet up with him since they were going to go into Rod Library at University of Northern Iowa to find a place to sit and talk. As Samantha saw Dylan, she stuck out her tongue in a playful way because she was very nervous. Dylan asked Samantha to hold his hand as they walked to the library. At the point, Samantha knew that Dylan was the one. How Dylan treated her throughout the day solidified those thoughts.

Dylan and Samantha were on a small camping trip with Samantha's parents and brother. The campground was Volga Lake Campground in Fayette, Iowa. Dylan and Samantha have been to this area before when they were at the Heaven Boutique Winery in Fayette. Dylan wanted him and Samantha to have some alone time. They drove around until Dylan found the perfect spot, a bench to sit on and a beautiful scenery of trees. To make it better, the sun was setting perfectly. Dylan said, "This would be a great place to ask you." Samantha said, " You are not doing this right now" as tears were starting to well up in her eyes. Dylan said, "Yes, I am. Samantha, the love of my life, will you marry me?" Samantha obviously said 'yes!' with tears running down her face. The funny thing is is that when Dylan and Samantha went back to the campground, they did not tell Samantha's parents and brother. They kept their engagement a secret for about a week. It was the best secret that either of them have ever kept.
