The night we met was an interesting one. Our friends wanted to go on double dates so they did the old "we should get our friends together so we have a couple to go out on double dates with!" It was the best idea either of them had. The minute that Spencer and I met we clicked. We spent most of the night on the tailgate of his truck talking and getting to know each other. That night also happened to be my 18th birthday and the day before Spencer's 21st birthday. How could that not be more perfect that our birthdays were a day apart? We were both so young, but somehow knew this person was something special. And here we are now 10 years later!
We are both big football fans. I love the Denver Broncos and he loves the Green Bay Packers. So in December of 2021, Spencer decided to buy Broncos tickets and take me to my first NFL game for our 8 year anniversary. I didn't think anything of it, just excited to go watch a football game. What was supposed to be a 7 maybe 8 hour drive turned into 15 hours! It was snowing so bad when we left that we were just stuck in traffic for hours. But Spencer refused to accept that. He tried looking up flights to Denver, anything to get us there. I was wondering why he was so committed to going, Denver isn't his team, but I chalked it up to maybe we couldn't get refunded for the tickets. The next day, December 11, 2021, we hung around the city, going to Golden, Colorado, the city where the Coors Light factory is. We went there in 2017 and had a blast, its one of our favorite vacation memories so we thought we would go again. Sadly the factory was closed due to Covid, but we still had a great time in the city. Nightfall came and we were walking through the town, they had all their Christmas lights up and it was such a beautiful night. Spencer is talking about the first time we went there, how he felt like we were family and how happy he was. I was just walking beside him, reminiscing, remembering how much fun we had too, enjoying the moment. Then he pulls out the most beautiful ring I'd ever seen and asks me to marry him. I, of course, start bawling and say "YES".
