How We Met

October 2016

Max & Grace met at a fitness boutique, Reve Fitness, in Fort Collins. Grace's mom, Debby, was the general manager of the studio and had actually met Max first. Grace and Max would take the boot camp classes together and began talking a little after class. Max had overheard that Grace was trying to find a new job so he Facebook messaged her about a potential job opportunity. This turned into Max asking Grace out to drinks. He asked her to drinks on October 21, 2016. Their first date was at Social, a speakeasy bar in Old Town, Fort Collins. They met at 7 o'clock and stayed until midnight. Grace says Max had her at "I have a dog named Bandit" and showed her pictures of him.

The Proposal

March 22, 2019

In November 2018, Max moved out to San Francisco for work. Grace stayed back at their home in Colorado with their dogs, Bandit and Nala. Max came home for a week in March for work. Grace was working in downtown Denver and Max's work that week was also in the downtown area. Since Max's car was in San Francisco, Grace and Max were driving into work together. Grace had asked him a couple of times what he wanted to do on Friday night and Max said he wanted to relax and spend time with her and the dogs. Grace was totally fine with this because the first round of March Madness basketball games were on TV. Grace and Max got home from work that Friday evening and changed clothes to walk the dogs. There were trails by their home in Colorado where they would walk their dogs. One of the trails led up to an older, white barn. Grace and Max started their walk with the dogs and Max led her up to the barn. Grace saw candles and flowers in vases on a picnic table along with a sign saying "Welcome to our Happily Ever After". Grace was a little confused knowing that Max didn't have a car and had been at work all day. Max got down on one knee and said "The dogs and I decided that it is time to share our last name with you" and asked Grace to marry him. Grace would joke with Max that she was jealous the dogs had his last name due to vet records. Grace was in complete shock asking how he planned it, how he got this set up and Max said he had some help. He told her his parents flew out from Wisconsin and Grace's parents and brothers had also driven down to help. So sure enough out running from behind the barn were their families. Grace was shocked she forgot to say "Yes"! It was such a special memory and both Grace and Max were happy their families were there to witness this moment together.

The Mini Wedding

August 21, 2020

Due to the pandemic, Max and I decided to still legally get married on our original wedding date of August 21, 2020. We drove down to Fort Collins and got married at the courthouse. We spent the weekend with immediate family. Our photographer was generous enough to get some photos of us and the dogs, so we could commemorate the special day. Max and I cannot wait to say our vows and get married again in 2021 in front of all of our loved ones!
