Through a series of events, we both ended up on a dating app called Upward. Since this specific app is marketed as the dating app for Christian singles, we thought it would be worth giving it a shot. Man oh man are we glad we did! Our first date was at Blue Goose Cantina in McKinney but it wasn't just the two of us, we were chaperoned by a rather large black fly. It didn’t take long for us to jump right to the important topics of faith, politics and family which is a big no-no on a first date but we wanted to be purposeful! We are beyond thankful for how God brought us into each other’s lives. He has been faithful to both of us individually and together through this wonderful season of courtship.
Matthew thoughtfully planned out the day, timing and all the details probably seven different times because outside factors kept changing! He started the day off with a bang by taking us to BPS Outfitters gun range. We love exercising our second amendment rights but hadn’t had the opportunity before September 10th to go together. I was thrilled we were finally able to go together! After the range, we made our way to dinner at The Point which overlooks Lake Texoma and also happened to be where we went on our third date. We took dinner to go because Matthew had one more stop for us and unbeknownst to me, he had one more card up his sleeve! I’m getting ahead of myself though. We drove to Eisenhower State Park and were reminiscing on our first dates, conversations and impressions. Matthew mentioned the moment that he realized he viewed us as more than a match on Upward happened at that park. My heart was already a puddle when I noticed a table, two chairs and flowers from Matthew's house staged on a rock near us. It was at that spot our lives changed. Matthew asked me to marry him and we wholeheartedly agreed to spend the rest of our lives together honoring the Lord and serving one another.
