Who knew that swiping right would lead to a lifetime of happiness. We first met in 2015, we both joined a dating site, since, where can you meet people these days. After quite a few months of speaking over WhatsApp we finally decided to meet up at Ed's Diner to ensure neither of us were a potential serial killer and would land up on an episode of Criminal Minds. We really got along very well and started started seeing each other every weekend since that first date. We then made it official on the 1st of January 2016.
Our first awkward date was at Eds Diner where we shared a whole 2 slices of pizza – we were too busy chatting and I was too nervous to eat the food (It was also full of green peppers, which as many people know... I can't eat - Shannon didn't know at the time what a fussy eater I was). Since then, we have had many memorable moments the two biggest adventures were holidays in Mauritius and New York, this was the first time that we left the country without family and only went with each other. There were also many adventures closer to home which allowed our relationship to flourish. A huge part of our journey was Shannon’s master’s degree, this came with a whole host of challenges but we managed to come out stronger than before. I waited for Shannon to submit her research before popping the question, she submitted her research on the 17th of November 2022. I asked Shannon to marry me at the Ndaba Hotel and Spa where we shared our first “wedding” anniversary on the 10th of December that same year. Shannon has taken on a lot of the wedding planning and made my life extremely easy (I was just asked to write a story about us). We are so excited to share our day with everyone that is near and dear to us. As we all know, the future is uncertain and unpredictable but there is no other person I would want to go on this exciting adventure with and build a life together.
