(Last updated 8/26/23) As many of you are aware, Maui is currently recovering from one of its worst natural disasters in its history with wildfires destroying much of Lahaina (located in West Maui). There are a few points of concern we’d like to address: 1. Our vendors - The vendors we have been working with are safe, but have all been affected in one way or another. In lieu of gifts, please consider donating to our two vendors who have lost their homes in the fire. To do so, in the "Registry" section of our website, click the "Maui Wildfire Relief" link. We will be distributing any funds donated directly to the Dunham Family (our videographer) and the Tevaga family (our ceremony musician) to support them during this difficult time. There is also a Hawaii Community fund which will go towards all those affected by the wildfires: https://www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/maui-strong 2. Olowalu Plantation House (wedding venue) - Unfortunately, Olowalu had to cancel as they are generously offering the Red Cross a base for their relief efforts in West Maui. We will be moving our wedding venue to the Andaz Hotel. 3. Andaz Hotel - The hotel is in Wailea (South Maui) which is luckily unaffected by the wildfires. If you are not staying at the Andaz, we recommend confirming your travel plans with your hotel/Airbnb. Note: the governor has issued an emergency proclamation strongly discouraging all non-essential travel to West Maui, which is where Lahaina is located.
4. Guests cancelling - While we’re excited to share this special day with you all, we completely understand if you are not comfortable traveling to Maui at this time. Please let us know by September 8th if you will no longer be attending. 5. Overall ability for Maui to host – We would not be moving forward with the wedding if we thought this would put undue stress on the wonderful people of Maui. After talking with each of our vendors and the staff at the Andaz hotel, we are confident we will not be infringing on their ability to recover. In fact, our vendors have been adamant that the best thing we can do for them is to keep our wedding date instead of postponing or cancelling. Maui is heavily dependent on tourism – cancelling our plans will only make it more difficult for the community to recover. They just ask that we all be respectful and come with love and aloha. Please reach out directly with any other concerns or questions. We thank you all for your patience while we sort through the changing plans. Maddie (925) 890-7797 Matt (925) 918-3040
All events will take place outdoors - the weather in Maui should be wonderful (the typical weather in Maui in October is a high of 87 and low of 72 degrees) - but please bring a light sweater or jacket if you believe you will be cold!
While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time so you can celebrate with us. We recommend looking into Happy Kids Maui or Nanny Connection for babysitting services! http://www.happykidsmaui.com/ https://www.thenannyconnection.com/
Yes, you can park at the Andaz.
