This is a story that goes back to the very first day of freshman year. A piece of advice given by an older student during orientation: Keep your dorm room door open as much as you can the first week and introduce yourself to every person that walks by. Taking that challenge on to know every person on the floor, Hanna called out from her dorm room in Thurston Hall “Hey You!” to another student walking down the hall. The lucky person on the receiving end of that “warm introduction” was Matthew. Despite the likelihood this introduction could have scared him away (he did not talk the first 10+ minutes in my room with other students) we quickly became a part of the same friend group living on the 8th floor together. Fast-forward two and a half years, we started dating during our time studying abroad in Seville, Spain. And as they say… the rest is history!

You read that date correctly- and despite Matthew’s selection, it was not an April Fools prank! Matthew proposed on Friday evening on our balcony followed by an incredible weekend celebrating with friends and family. The perfect weekend!
