First we were friends, then boyfriend and girlfriend, and now fiancé. We first met at Brielle’s 21st birthday party but it wasn’t until a month later we became friends after we went to Old Town Sports Pub in Manassas, Virginia. We said we both were only interested in being friends but I quickly knew that I wanted to be more than just friends with Matthew. We spent many weekends together at home, with friends, or taking small vacations but even a year later Matthew still insisted on staying only friends. It wasn’t until we took a small break that we both realized we were meant to be more than just friends. We took a trip to his grandparent’s river house one weekend, the last night we were there he took me down to their dock to look at the stars. We sat there looking at the sky for a few minutes talking when finally, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Four years later he asked me to marry him with some of our friends and family members there to witness it, something I had always dreamed of. Over the last four years we have traveled, moved in together, adopted our first dog and then took in our second dog, encountered hardships, started new careers, started the process of building our first home, and now planning a wedding together. Our love story is just beginning.
