Most people would probably lie about the way we met. But in a pandemic world, we did what most single people did, went online. Now before you start getting images of Tinder in your head, we need to clarify something.. as Mel will tell you, “we were classy and paid for this!”. One late night back in March 2021, Matt gets a notification on his Match.com app saying someone viewed his profile. He checked the notification, reviewed Mel’s profile like a CSI agent, and decided to “swipe right”. A 6 hour phone call (yes, Matt on the phone for 6 hours!), a couple days texting back and forth, Mel did the unconventional thing and asked Matt out. Our first date started much like any other, met up for a couple beers at Hartland Brewing Co., immediately hit it off, then Matt came up with the idea of going to another brewery, one conveniently right by his house and the one he was a regular at. A few more beers and conversations about everything from music to Disney movies later, the night was drawing to a close. Mel came up with the idea of going back to Matt’s place to watch a movie.. now we know where your head is going on this.. after a stern warning from Mel’s mom, Deb, we headed inside and watched Frozen 2 before the calling it a night. She headed home and the texts and long phone calls continued for the following days. Everything about our relationship has been very unorthodox, first date back at Matt’s place, second date in a hotel room eating Korean food while Mel was on call at the hospital, and moving in together after only a few months. We can honestly say that we wouldn’t have it any other way and we are very excited to have you be part our big day!
