How they met and fell in love Matt and Mackenzie met the modern way, on a dating app in 2020. Matt messaged Mackenzie three times before she finally answered. She was already interested in him based on what she knew but loved how persistent he was. After communicating consistently for about two weeks, they had to make sure they were actually real people. Modern world problems... So how do you do that in a Global pandemic? By sharing contact information and adding each other on Snapchat of course! Duh! About 20 minutes after sharing their information, Matt accidentally Facetimed Mackenzie. Their first video call lasted almost 5 hours. After that night, they knew they found someone special. After about a month of texting constantly and facetiming every day, they agreed to meet in person on New Year's Eve, 2020. They ended up spending the entire weekend together and fell in love soon after. Mackenzie fell in love with how respectful, funny, caring, and true to himself Matt is with her. Matt loves Mackenzie for how compassionate, weird, hilarious, and loving she is. Their Engagement Matt and Mack spent 2024's July 4th weekend in Portland, OR. After exploring the city for three days, they planned a special trip to visit the Columbia River Gorge waterfalls. Their first stop was Multnomah Falls. Matt bought a tripod just for this trip because he knew that Mackenzie wanted their engagement to feel very intimate. Matt told Mackenzie to pose for a picture with the falls in the background and then got down on one knee. Mackenzie was beyond excited and kissed him immediately! After 4 beautiful hikes to waterfalls, one of Mackenzie's bridesmaids asked if Matt was able to ask that important question. He was finally able to ask if she would marry him on a public bus on the way back to the city. Their Future Over the past 4 1/2 years Matt and Mack have had many adventures but also had to face many challenges. Although they know there are more adventures to come and more challenges to face, they're excited to support one other through anything. They can't wait to share this momentous day with all of you! But most of all, ecstatic to spend the rest of their lives together!
