How We Met- Katys Story

I knew Matt was interested when he first reached out to me over social media. We talked over social media for a bit before we met in person. One weekend in the Spring of 2019 he took the courage to come up to me at an outdoor party at UND and say hi. He was wearing this fur bomber hat and I remember how nervous he looked walking up to me. We talked for awhile and I remember how much he made me laugh. I’m not sure if it was from his humor or the outfit he was wearing or a combination of both. I remember how much I loved his smile and how nice I thought he was. The following semester we went on a date to an ice cream place near both of our apartments. It definitely took me awhile to warm up to the idea of dating Matt, but after some time I realized how much I liked him and I had liked him all along. I gave him a full shot and I can say it was the best decision of my life as I quickly found out he was the sweetest, funniest, most caring guy. I still can’t believe I get to marry a guy like him and can’t wait!

How We Met- Matts Story

In the spring of my sophomore year at UND aka, “bender,” I decided to message Katy and shoot my shot. I wouldn’t say it worked but I also wouldn’t say it didn’t work. We messaged back and forth a few times but it didn’t lead anywhere. One day I was at a darty (day party) with some guys on the team and saw her in the backyard with some of her friends. It was not the most ideal time for me to go up and talk to her as I had been drinking all day and I was wearing a Vikings jersey and a bomber hat but the Busch lights were flowing and I was feeling confident. Her story might say different but what I was wearing was totally acceptable for spring in Grand Forks. I went up and said hi and talked to her for a bit. I remember how sweet and down to earth I thought she was and obviously beautiful. We went on our first date that next semester of school in the fall. I thought it went well but I was soon to find out it probably wasn’t as good as I thought. We didn’t have our second date until February later that school year, but the rest is history from there and I couldn’t be more happy and excited to spend the rest of my life with her.
