It was a cold January day in 2018 when we happened to cross paths at the gym in Matt's office building. We had definitely noticed one another a few times prior, however this day was special because we bumped into each other at the water fountain. A simple conversation ensued and we exchanged numbers. Matt's nerves got the best of him and he accidentally gave George the wrong phone number. Not wanting him to get the wrong idea he had to awkwardly catch up to George before leaving and give the correct number. Despite this fumble ,we scheduled our first date on February 13th, 2018 at White Oak in Lincoln Park....which no longer exists :) Our relationship began shortly after and we were soon inseparable. Our common interests of travel, hiking, and exploring Chicago helped us get to know each other over the first year of dating. In 2020, the worldwide pandemic brought us even closer together. In May of that year we adopted an energetic, lovable puppy: Charlie. Charlie was to stay in George's condo since there was a bit more space. But after that first weekend with our new pooch, Matt too stayed and never went back to his condo. George claims that Charlie was Matt’s excuse to move in together. We passed the test of cohabitation and in fact realized we really were compatible. We even kept our dog Charlie alive in the process! During the long COVID days, we developed a love of watching "Caribbean Life" on HGTV. That is what lead us to find our favorite vacation destination: Roatan, Honduras. Roatan helped us slow down and take stock of what we were looking for in life. It helped us learn to cherish the love we have and realize this relationship was very special and something we wanted to mark with a celebration of our commitment together. Our October '22 visit to Roatan ended with our moonlit engagement. We continue to live this awesome adventure together in our beautiful home in the Kilbourn Park neighborhood of Chicago. If you ever pass our house on Kolmar Ave, chances are you will see us sitting on our rocking chairs on the front porch. You have all been a very important part of our journey. We would love to have you all celebrate our love and bear witness to our commitment together.
