Matt & I both grew up in Lakeville, Minnesota. We actually went to the same middle school and our houses were just down the street from each other but we didn't meet until the beginning of 2012. I started to notice him my Junior year when he would walk to his car through the LNHS parking lot at the end of the school day (so creepy of me I know haha). I distinctly remember telling my cousin Frankie (bridesmaid), who I used to drive to school everyday, that I had the biggest crush on him and how cute I thought he was! A few weeks passed and I just couldn't stop crushing on Matt Meidl, the cute Senior who parked close to me in the LNHS lot (lol)! I ended up telling our mutual friend, Tyler Pinkston (groomsman), about my crush and he told Matt and eventually brokered the deal and made the introduction! Matt and I started texting, hanging out in groups with friends, bonfires, dances, parties, we may have even gotten into a little bit of trouble together sneaking in & out of our houses as kids in love do - we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend, also known as high school sweethearts! 🤍 I would visit Matt at UW Maidson and he would visit me at U of M! I studied overseas and moved to NYC and throughout the years even when we weren't always together our hearts were always close. We decided to rekindle in 2018 and it was the best decision of our lives!!
Molly and I went to the same high school and she was in the grade below me. I knew who she was, but we didn’t formerly meet until my senior year. My good friend Tyler Pinkston masterminded our first interaction. He told me that Molly had a crush on me and was going to be at the party we were headed to that night. Little did I know, Tyler had told her the same thing. We hit it off right away. We dated until mutually deciding to part ways my sophomore year of college. It was hard for both of us, but we thought if it was meant to be it would find it’s way to happen. Fast forward four years to the spring of 2018, I ran into Molly’s cousin Frankie at the horse races and she told me that Molly was moving to New York City. I always had my thing for Molly, so I was bummed she was moving so far away, but happy she was chasing her dreams. I had a lot to think about… I sent her a message congratulating her and wishing her the best. She said that she was excited for her new journey and wanted to meet up before she left. I figured I’d shoot my shot. We met at a bar and I asked her if I could come visit her. She said yes, and I ended up asking her to be my girlfriend in NYC!
We closed on our first home together February 5, 2021! After several offers in a crazy housing market and global pandemic, we landed our fixer-upper in Bloomington, MN! We have been renovating it together, (Matt doing most of the work, I cannot take the credit) and creating our dream first home together! We have been documenting our process on Instagram @ourflippinhome! Flipping our first home together has been challenge, yet so rewarding! We have proven to be such a strong team and we think we may have a few more flips in our future! Team M&M for life ;)
Matt proposed in Duluth, Minnesota at Canal Pier in front of the lighthouse on Labor Day and I said (actually screamed) YES!!!!!! He pulled off an amazing surprise and we spent the weekend celebrating with friends and family!!! 7 months before Matt proposed, he gifted me a 'surprise trip' for Christmas that year and told me to pack my skis. We ended up in Duluth, MN and during that romantic weekend surprise getaway, he asked me to go ring shopping with him. Duluth will forever be our special place <3
