mary and ryan
There's no place that makes us feel more at home than a sandy beach and salty air, and I knew that I had the chance to make an unforgettable moment for Mary and I by proposing at a place that means a lot to me. Bringing Mary to Portugal was so exciting because it was mixing our mutual love for travel and showing off my family history (not to mention scarfing down some bombastic cuisine). Nazaré is a world-famous beach, and a place that I knew would knock Mary's socks off. Of course, I had a plan for the day, which involved arriving at Nazaré somewhere around four o'clock and slowly making our way up to the precipice where our photographer would wait for us as I patiently cultivated the perfect moment. Mary had her own plans, and suggested we set off for the trip around noon, meaning I had to stall about four hours until we get up to the overlook. So instead of walking around for a little while, we sat and crushed a few pints of beer and two or three espressos each, as we meandered up the way to the picturesque spot where I could barely contain myself. Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, I asked the person who means the most to me to spend the rest of our lives together - the easiest question that's ever been asked.
