Our Story

Dane and I first met about 7 years ago at a high-school track meet. We kept in touch throughout the remainder of our high-school years and into our Junior College years, but we hadn't actually seen each other since that first day we met. Until one day, Dane randomly showed up at my apartment with one of our mutual friends. If you have ever met Dane, you know that he has never met a stranger and this was no different for us. We were instantly best friends and I felt like I had known him my whole life. I'll never forget him calling himself the "king of my house" as he sat on my refrigerator (which I thought was weird at the time lol). He then went off to basic training as I finished out the school semester in Starkville. I ran into him at a Christmas party when he was home for two weeks and we were both so excited to see each other; however, he had to go back to Missouri to finish out his basic training. When he got back, the dude MOVED IN WITH GUYS WHO LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME?! Fate, right??? (A special thank you to Brandon, Chris, and Wade). We were friends for what felt like years at this point, but we always tended to cling to each other a little more than we did everyone else, (Dane says it's because he had a huge crush on me). He would come over almost every day, whether it was to steal food out of my fridge or just hang out with me while I studied. Then one night, about two months after he had moved to Starkville, a group of our friends went to eat Mexican. We had a few too many margaritas, and shared our first kiss in my kitchen later that night. And I haven't been able to get rid of him since... We will be together 3 years in March and are looking forward to spending many, many more together.

The Proposal

January 5, 2019

As I started my first semester in Graduate School, my girlfriends from high-school and I planned a trip to Walt Disney World, as all mature adults do. January rolled around and the trip was coming up. I was so excited to go, but so sad to have to leave Dane for a week (if I only knew). On New Years Day, Dane dropped me off at the airport, we said our goodbyes, and I began to embark on our journey to Orlando. Once in Orlando, we headed straight to Magic Kingdom.. The next few days were full of different theme parks and all of the walking and standing in lines you could think of. The last day rolls around and we are all EXHAUSTED and just about ready to go the heck home. We stroll back into Magic Kingdom for the last day and as I am lag behind in the group, I feel this man grab me by the shoulders. Fully aware that I didn't know anyone else in Orlando, I prepared myself for the awkward encounter of which was about to occur: telling this man that he had just slightly aggressively grabbed the wrong woman. If you have seen our proposal video, you know that I was in full shock to turn around and find out that the strange man grabbing me was actually Dane. I couldn't even get out words and was just very confused as to why (or how) he was in Orlando. (Side Note: he faked breaking his phone so that I wouldn't find out he was flying down to Disney). As I was trying to get answers as to why he was there, he says "I want to marry you" and proceeded to get down on one knee in front of Cinderella's Castle and ask me to be his wife. Of course, I said "yes". This really did make Walt Disney World "The Happiest Place on Earth" for me. I would also like to send a special thank you to my AWESOME girlfriends who were on the trip with me, my best friend Mady & her mom Mrs. Anna, as well as my future Mother-In-Law, Lisa, for helping Dane pull off this awesome surprise perfectly. I know that he couldn't have done it without y'all and I am forever grateful.
