Maryelizabeth and Reid first met each other in the spice aisle of Mariano's when their carts collided. Their eyes formed a sort of connection as they couldn't look away. Maryelizabeth then asked Reid to grab her the red pepper since it was on the top shelf and he was so tall. After handing Maryelizabeth the pepper, Reid initiated the conversation and it flowed until they exchanged information... .....just kidding. Maryelizabeth and Reid met on the dating app, Hinge, in March of 2019. They got together for drinks at Arbella in River North on a Tuesday and the date lasted for approximately eight hours long as they drank cocktails and wine and ate appetizers. From then on, the rest was history.

Over the holidays, Maryelizabeth and Reid took a week trip to Prague, Czech Republic. On December 30th, they decided to walk around and visit sites in the Lesser Town neighborhood. Reid held a secret for the day as he continuously sought for the best opportunity to release that secret question. He walked around with his left hand in his jacket pocket holding on to a valuable object making sure that it was secure. Maryelizabeth had no idea that something was afoot as Reid always walks around with his hands in his pockets. In the late afternoon, they made their way to the Petřín Gardens, which is situated on a steep hill that offers beautiful views of the entire city. After about half a mile of walking and countless feet of elevation, Maryelizabeth requested to take a break to catch her breath near a hotel situated half way up the hill. The views were magnificent. Reid knew the time was near. It has to be soon. They continued down the path towards a medieval wall. Closer to the wall, the path made a quick turn and opened up to a city view. Mary went to the edge of the path to take a few pictures. Reid knew that this was the moment. There was no one around. If not now, he knew he would lose the chance. He then got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket and opened the box. Maryelizabeth wondered why Reid didn't come to the edge of the path to take photos with her. She turned around and BAM! She froze for a moment and was confused on what he was doing on his knee and what he was holding. The moment she realized what was happening, she started to shed tears of joy while holding her hands to her face. After the precious moment and countless pictures together in the spot, Maryelizabeth and Reid walked back to the hotel on the hill to celebrate with a few drinks while overlooking the city. Together they sat discussing their excitement and life together going forward.
