I love, to tell the story. Of unseen things above. Oh pardon me, was just quoting my favorite Alan Jackson song, in which he describes the birth of Jesus Christ. However, let me share with you a story about the birth of true love. It all began in November when on the first of the month I “matched” with a girl whose goal was to become a morning person. While I have never been a morning person, I said I was also interested in becoming an early bird! Unfortunately, from that moment it took a while for me to officially ask out Rachel on the first date…blame it on being nervous, blame it on Rachel visiting her sister in Germany, or blame it on the Oklahoma State football team making a run at the college football playoffs (Google Oklahoma State Baylor Goal Line 2021 Big XII Championship and you’ll understand!!) After I had finally recovered, and Rachel came back from Germany we went on a date to Can Can Wonderland in late January. While there were some bumps on the date such as the power going out, and Rachel actually winning the mini-golf match… Despite the bumps I had a great time and even agreed to watch a hockey game a few days later just so we could hangout again! After a few more dates we officially started dating in March. Speaking of March, approximately 2 years after we had started dating I had a surprise work trip planned for Colorado. What Rachel didn’t know was that the project hadn’t started and I was planning to propose. I told her that I would fly out a day early to look at the “project” we were doing and then she would join me and we would spend the weekend together. I flew out early and Henry McIsaac drove all the way from Utah to meet me and prepare all the important details of setting up the proposal area and scouting the hike where I would propose. Rachel finally arrived and while she had a multitude of activities she wanted to do that day, I only had one thing on my mind. She was quite agitated at my slow moving morning, doing an afternoon hike all the way up in Boulder and that it would take up the entire day. Shortly after we started hiking there was a lovely set up of blankets, pictures, flowers, and cute notes Rachel had written for me throughout the years. That was when I popped the question and now here we are planning the big day and you all are reading this lovely story. We can’t wait to continue writing our story and even more excited for you all to be there on our big day! Love, Grant (& Rachel)
