They met at Brew Pub in Joplin, Missouri during their early years of medical school. They did not know each other prior, but they hit it off very quickly. Two days later, they went on our first date. The rest is history!

For their first date, Dominic picked up Mikayla with his 5-month-old golden retriever, Roy, and they went on a hike in Joplin. After the hike, Dominic took Mikayla out to dinner for Thai food. To this day, going out for Thai food is one of their favorite activities. So much so, they ate Thai food at least once a week for the rest of the school year.

The most perfect day. Dominic took Mikayla out to a romantic Italian lunch, where they enjoyed wine and pasta dishes in downtown Kansas City. After, they went on a walk around Loose Park. At the end of the mile loop, Dominic anxiously brought Mikayla to the pond, where he asked her to marry him. He surprised Mikayla with a professional photographer, a diamond necklace from his great-grandmother, and an announcement that her parents flew out for the big day. Although Mikayla had a slight intuition he was going to ask her, she was shocked at the beautiful ring, necklace, and her parent's arrival! After, they met both Dominic's and Mikayla's family for happy hour and appetizers at The Parlor to celebrate.

Mikayla's ring is not only beautiful but holds a special meaning. Being the first grandchild from her mom's side of the family, Mikayla's grandmother, who passed away a couple years before Mikayla was born, gifted her wedding ring to Mikayla. Dominic secretly picked up the diamond during one of their trips to California, from her aunt who lives in Las Vegas. Dominic designed the ring, although he knew exactly what Mikayla wanted. The ring was ready on Valentine's Day, and Dominic proposed a month later!

They will graduate from medical school in early May, get married May 17th, go on a honeymoon, and start residency! UPDATE: They are headed to Detroit, Michigan in June! Dominic and Mikayla cannot wait to start the next chapter of their lives together. Their lives are crazy, but their strong love powers them.
