According to Erich In 2006, who would have thought that a young Marquicia would be traveling with a friend from Indianapolis to Chicago - Destination...Wedding As a quick detour to allow time for the wedding to start, Marquicia and friend Sarah stopped by Chicago's McCormick Place at an expo. I was coincidentally working within the expo that day with a family member selling all organic jewelry cleaner called Missy's Magic. Marquicia and her friend came to the table with curiosity. The details... ehh, well let's say we met for lunch about 1 month later and kept in contact throughout 2006. One day, Marquicia indicated that she'd be moving to Tennessee for grad school and she'd be leaving soon. I figured that we'd never really keep in touch after that due to the distance. Fast forward to 2017... I coincidentally ran into Marquicia and reached back out to her. Even though we lived in two different states we both understood that times were much different and our connections, personalities and mutual interests were very strong. We have added to a great foundation to how we first felt when we initially met. Both of us, seeing each other's maturity since 2006 has continued to blossom out bond into a strong friendship and courtship, only under God. The story seems never-ending from here... at least that's what our hearts say...
According to Marquicia Labor Day Weekend, we went to visit Erich's sister, Dynesha in New York. We had a lovely weekend and that Sunday the weather was perfect. We got up early for a church service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle and then had brunch at a quaint breakfast spot. The rest of our day was filled with roaming the streets of Brooklyn. Erich and I made our way downtown Manhatten to tour Times Square and Erich casually suggested we visit the Rockefeller Center. At the very top of the Rockefeller building, a fellow tourist offered to take our picture in front of the skyline. Once I prepared a spot for us, clearing a path for the perfect view, I turned around. There Erich was, bending down on one knee looking at me. He pulled the ring box out of his pocket. The ring we designed together months ago: a circle ruby with a diamond halo set in rose gold. "Will you marry me?" he asked. I could hear the happy cheers of the other tourists. People love love. I said "YES!" #IGotMyRockOnTopOfTheRock!
