We swiped right! On our first date we rode the metro one car apart and met in Union Station, walked along The Mall, and lingered in the Summerhouse Grotto. We bonded over our shared love of quiet moments and went on five more dates that week!
When we were deciding where to take a vacation, Alex suggested Iceland and I immediately said yes. Unbeknownst to me, he had other plans. We booked an ice cave tour and he told me that no one else had signed up, so it would just be us. He (convincingly/meanly) told me not to expect any kind of proposal so that I wouldn't be disappointed. Once there, a super jeep took us through a glacial outwash plain, alongside mossy green mountains and black sand, until we reached the foot of an ice cave. It looked like a scene straight out of Star Wars (because it was). On our way out, we posed to get a picture with the brilliant blue ice. Alex told me he had a question to ask me, and I said "no you don't" (remember how convincing/mean he was). He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and he was my ride home so I said yes. Just kidding! I was so excited to say yes to forever with my best friend. I couldn't imagine a more perfect day.
