May 6, 2016 will always be a special day for us. Mason built up the courage to ask Sanford if he would allow him to date his daughter. It was a terrifying feat for a 13-year-old boy, but little did we know how much that conversation would change our lives. We went to different high schools and that was definitely a learning curve. Neither one of us had been in a relationship before, let alone at different schools. Alexis moved to Waverly in 2017 and the relationship became long distance. This was definitely the toughest time for us, but we never strayed from each other. We only got opportunities to see each other on the weekends, so we made every second count. Three years felt like an eternity but we both made it through high school and decided to go to UT Martin together to both pursue degrees. Once we got to college, our relationship flourished. It was the first time in our lives that we got to spend each and every day together, and we both felt like it was a dream. Many people told us that going from long distance to seeing each other every day may change us, but it did the opposite. We grew so close, and neither one of us has ever looked back. Almost eight years later, one house purchase, two doggie and kitty adoptions, and one ever so important question from Mason and now we're here. We are beyond excited to make this forever as each day we find out how to love each other more and more.
