How We FIRST Met

I met Pauly D when dropping off a wedding cake!

Marissa and Mickey Massaro made Jason and Nikki Pirotta's wedding cake. While waiting outside the reception hall, Marissa and her mother were approached by two Guido look-a-likes from The Jersey Shore. Pauly D look-a-like, Mark Pirotta and Vinny look-a-like, Kevin Anderson. Wearing darkly tinted sunglasses and both clearly intoxicated, they proceeded to hit on Marissa. After what seemed like 15 minutes of random slurred speech, Marissa was not impressed. The interaction between Mark and Marissa was brief, yet he left a lasting impression on her. Nevertheless, as the wedding reception went on, they both went their separate ways.

How We Remet

First comes sushi, then comes marriage.

After years passed and chatting for months on Facebook, we decided to go out on a date. We met at Mark's softball game at Twin Creeks on May 9th, 2014. For our first date, we went to Mizu Sushi Bar & Grill in San Jose. After numerous sushi rolls and a couple of shots of sake later, I met Mark's puppy, Rocco. I instantly fell in love...with Rocco of course! After 7 months of casual dating and 50 dates later (yes like the movie) we made it official. I wrapped myself up with a red ribbon and I asked Mark to be my boyfriend on Christmas Eve of 2014. And yes, he cried. :) We now fast forward 7+ years later... We moved into an apartment together. We traveled abroad together, where Mark asked me to marry him. We faced a pandemic together and were forced to postpone our wedding. But here we are again, set to tie the knot on August 13th 2021.

How He Proposed

08/03/2019

I went to Nevis in 2019 for the opportunity to build my resume and historical experience. After four weeks, Mark flew down to meet me for the last two weeks. Mark had this drawstring backpack that he was very territorial over. He allowed me to carry it once, and after I attempted to grab sunscreen out of the bag without asking, he flipped! He made sure to carry the bag the entire duration of the trip. After Mark's first week back on Nevis, we went to Bananas Bistro where he had the bar tender pretend to take a picture at sunset while he popped the question.
