No need to rent a car for this weekend. It's very easy to grab a cab, Lyft, or Uber from the Airport (it will be about a 20 minute $50 cab ride). You can also hop a ride on the Sounder (a local train) which will drop you off downtown. This is the cheapest option though will take you ~40 minutes and you'll be about 2 miles from the hotel. We can certainly talk you through the train option if it's what you're going for.
Easy - walk! The Courtyard Marriott (our hotel block) is about 2 blocks from our house and two blocks from the Center for Wooden Boats.
We're still early, but projections look like the weather will be in the mid-60s. A light coat in case of rain would be a good idea. Friday night at our house is casual, Saturday for the wedding bring your A game. If you make it out on Sunday morning for brunch just try and have some clothes on.
Plenty! Across the street from the hotel is the museum for wooden boats and a walking trail along Lake Union. Watch the seaplanes taking off and extra points if you can find the houseboat from sleepless in Seattle and the crab boat from deadliest catch. Across the street from Mark & Gail's place is Herkimer coffee for those of you needing an upstate NY brew. Down Westlake Ave there are coffee shops, restaurants, and bars galore. If you are looking for a great whisky selection, and want to see the Wolfdick hall of fame, head to Cask & Trotter and ask for Ben; either one of them know us. The space needle is about 0.5 miles away and Pikes Place Market (you know, the one where they throw the fish and has the first Starbucks) is only about a mile away.
First, catch up on Jon Glazer loves gear, Mark's favorite show. Head to the backside of Pike Place Market for a sweet view and Cool Shots!!!! of the Puget Sounds, Bainbridge Island, the Olympic Mountains and if you're really lucky Mount Rainier. You can also hop on a ferry from there over to Bainbridge Island for more adventures. We would recommend stopping at Ivars for some fried clams or oysters before hopping on the ferry.
Yeah bro, we've been there too. To start, Mark and Gail made a very wise decision and moved into an apartment with a brewery in it. Mollusk has fine Northwest crafts and food, stop in for a brew and bite. Cask & Trotter has a great selection of whisky and you have to try the slides. This one is located adjacent to the Marriott. If neither of those work for you head down Westlake Ave into Amazon land and pick your favorite watering hole. Mark prefers the horsey bar (also know as the Brave Horse Tavern) while Gail prefers La Caviste wine bar. Don't feel like going out, no worries, Seattle delivers. Call downtown spirits (https://downtownspirits.com) or Amazon Now and they will deliver right to your doorstep. If you order from Amazon Now mention that you know Gail for no additional discounts but maybe a better rating on her yearly performance review.
Good call, across the street and just a few blocks up from the Marriott you can rent a hot tub boat. Yep, you heard that right, a hot tub boat. No license or experience required (http://hottubboats.com/). Don't feel like driving, try Argosy Cruises for a host of options ranging from Lake Union, the Locks, the Puget Sound or beyond (https://www.argosycruises.com/). For a more leisurely stroll our wedding venue, the center for wooden boats, rents boats and has free cruises on Sunday mornings.
