If you haven’t heard the story of how Jay and Marissa met, it’s much better told in person so definitely ask them. Marissa had recently moved to Colorado while experiencing a quarter life crisis and was working at LifeTime Fitness. Jay was working for BSN Sports, living the life of a bachelor. Marissa had seen Jay come and go each day at the gym and he caught her eye. Lucky for her, the Personal Training Manager had played baseball with Jay, so she spent weeks pressuring him to set them up. Brian was not super helpful, only telling Jay, “this new front desk girl has a crush on you, you should ask her out.” Well Jay did NOT ask Marissa out and finally after a very anticlimactic passing in the hallway, Marissa messaged Jay on Instagram asking what it would take for him to talk to her. He responded, “Nothing!!! I’ll come talk to you.” FINALLY! They chatted for a few weeks at the gym and over text and after a week or so Jay finally asked Marissa out on their first date. Marissa and Jay had an amazing first date at Top Golf, although Marissa became quite competitive while losing the whole time. The next day they texted about having a great time and Marissa was excited about hopefully going on another date. Meanwhile, Jay was mentally preparing for tailgating on Sunday. Jay didn’t respond to Marissa until the following Tuesday….this was when Marissa learned about Broncos home game Sundays. Lol. After many more dates, a trip to Houston, and the COVID era, they knew they were meant to be. And the rest is history.
