How We Met

08/04/2013

August 16th, 2012 was our first day of high school. All freshmen had to be in the gymnasium for special testing, and my best friend at the time wouldn't stop going on about this hot guy who was sitting near her. We didn't know him, but knew his last name had to start with an "S" as we were sitting in alphabetical order. After finding out his name is Jordan, we instantly found him on Facebook, and I messaged him to see if he was interested in my friend. With nothing happening between them, my friend moved on, and Jordan and I continued to text. During classes, he always went out of his way to make me laugh or smile; I quickly began falling for him. It was early on when I knew he would be my husband one day, so in my head he was mine, even if he didn't know it yet. We spent the entire summer going into Sophomore year together, but on August 4th 2013, his grandparents were in town visiting for a camping trip. It was just before school was starting up again, so we were saying our goodbye's, and as I stepped out of his white 1997 Acura Integra and closed the door, he called out my name. I leaned down to the window, and he then (finally), asked me to be his girlfriend! We didn't last much more than a month, but after figuring out some kinks, we truly couldn't be happier with the life we share today. We look forward to figuring out the kinks throughout the entirety of our future together!

The Proposal

03/26/2022

On Saturday, March 26th 2022, we were at home hanging out with Marisa's family. Marisa's Aunt was in town for Holly's baby shower, which unfortunately needed to be postponed, so we were visiting and decided to have some casual drinks. Marisa started mixing up her go-to: Tequila with Squirt and Tajin, but just as her bartending skills were being put to the test, unknowingly to Marisa, Amanda began to play the infamous Frozen song: Love is An Open Door by Kristen Bell and Santino Fontana. Of course we couldn't help ourselves and began our little performance for our family, and at the end when "Hans" asks "Anna" to marry him, Jordan stopped and said "good because it's happening". My heart sunk and our song: Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur began to play. Jordan walked me to the backyard where there was a path of red rose petals, lined with white candles inside of clear jars, leading to rose petals laid out into the shape of a heart. After we had our moment, I turned around to see his family had traveled to witness our engagement, as well as my Godmother, aside from my family and Aunt who were already there. He later invited my best friend over and we had a mini celebration of the day with our immediate friends and family.

Our Church Ceremony

05/20/2023

On Saturday, May 20th 2023, Marisa and Jordan became United in Holy Matrimony at St. Julie Billiart Roman Catholic Church in Tinley Park, Illinois. The day was beautiful: birds singing in the morning, warm kisses from the sun, blue skies with sporadic, faded clouds, and cool breezes through the air; God's presence was truly undeniable the entire day. The guest list was extremely intimate; including our immediate family members and grandparents, as traveling out of the country (or at all) can be extremely risky for our grandparents. This part was something we could have done in the court house a few weeks (or months) leading up to our big day, however, getting married in the eyes of God is something that had always been important to Marisa, and eventually became extremely important to Jordan as well. God works in truly amazing ways, and our timeline has his beautiful hands written all over it.
