Which is the best way to get around the Island?

Answer

Uber is readily available and the best option. Take Uber, but....Public transportation like the bus is cheapest and takes you to most parts of the island. Yellow buses are nicer, more expensive, and take direct routes. Taxis work, make sure they start the meter. We will try to provide transportation on the day of wedding events.

What is the best way to get money in Brazil?

Answer

When you get to the airport, exchange $100 just to have cash. This is the worst location to exchange currency but guarantees you have a couple of dollars just in case. Then use your debit card at ATMs from Banco do Brasil, Santander, or HSBC. ** Do not forget to call your bank to let them know your travel dates. This prevents them from blocking your card from fraud.

Should I rent a car/moto?

We recommend you take an Uber everywhere on the island. If you want to visit the 100s of amazing places around Floripa or road trip to another country then renting a car through an online agency may be your best choice. Unless you have experience driving a moto, we ask that you do not try. Traffic isn't as organized in Brazil and the moto drivers drive recklessly.

Will everyone speak English?

No, everyone speaks Portuguese. In locations like Jurere or Lagoa you will find some people that speak English, but most people do not speak it well. Have a cheat sheet with sentences or use Google Translator on your phone.

Where should I stay?

We believe everyone staying in Jurere Internacional is best. We are working on a few blocks of rooms in hotels and will update the website soon where we have discounts.

Should I come before or after the wedding?

Answer

Totally your call. We tried to make it Thanksgiving weekend since it is not a religious holiday and allows everyone to stay longer. We recommend leaving Wednesday to stay in Florianopolis at minimum Thursday through Sunday/Monday. We will provide an itinerary for Thursday through Monday, but happy to make recommendations for other days if you want to arrive the previous weekend and stay through the week.
