The story of Matthew and Margaret, as we all know, is one for the ages. But contrary to popular belief it does not begin on St. Patrick’s Day weekend of 2015. It starts a few weeks before that at a brunch that would change both of their lives. Margaret and her friend Macey meet up with friends one morning to get brunch. Margaret was delighted to see Matthew there, her friend Katie’s older brother, and they sat together. Despite others being at the table, Matthew and Margaret spent the whole time talking and laughing like no one else was in the room. They left brunch with a big crush on each other and when St. Patrick’s Day weekend finally did roll around, both were excited to run into each other at the Shamrock Shuffle. Luckily, they did, and they spent the whole weekend together. Sparks were flying and it was clear to everyone that these two really hit it off. About a week later, Matthew asked Margaret on their first date to Mason Street Grill. It was later revealed that Rocky Rococo’s would have done the trick for both of them, and now they eat Rocky’s at least once a week to honor their relationship. Matthew soon bought a house and Margaret moved in as his pro bono interior designer for the next four years. To this day, she is still rearranging bookshelves, furniture, and glassware displays. Matthew decided to make things official on his birthday – July 4, 2021. It was already their favorite holiday for so many reasons, but he knew it would be the perfect opportunity to have all their friends and family together to celebrate when he popped the question. Unbeknownst to Margaret, she planned her own engagement party. Matthew put on their favorite Fleetwood Mac song, took Margaret out into their backyard in front of the party, and got down on one knee. Corona Light in hand, Margaret said “YES!” and they spent the night rejoicing with friends. Soon they were on their way to planning their dream wedding weekend in Door County!
