Margaret and Charlie were introduced to each other by Margaret's best friend and maid of honor during their freshman year of college. Charlie initially thought Margaret was shy and it wasn't until two weeks later when sparks flew at a University of Minnesota Spring Jam party. A few days later, Charlie messaged Margaret on Facebook (lol) and asked her to go on a frozen yogurt date. While Margaret initially had doubts when Charlie suggested they share a cup of frozen yogurt (she would've rather had her own), a second date soon followed and they have been together ever since.

After learning that Charlie was accepted to the University of Michigan for his Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Margaret and Charlie decided to spend a quick weekend in Ann Arbor to get familiar with our future city and tour some apartments. Even though it was raining, Charlie convinced Margaret to do a quick walk around the campus. They ended their loop in the historic Michigan Law Quad, where Charlie had coordinated with a photographer to secretly capture the proposal. They spent the rest of the evening sharing the news with friends and family and enjoyed a delicious Spanish tapas dinner in downtown Ann Arbor.
