Alex and Maren met during a night out at the bars in Sheboygan with mutual friends. At the time, Alex was living in Madison and Maren was living in Sheboygan. Maren technically made the first move by introducing herself first but they started out as just friends.

Alex and Maren reconnected at their friend, Jon’s, golden birthday party. (Funny enough, Jon and his now wife Amy had reconnected at Maren’s golden birthday party!) Alex had moved back to the area and decided that it was worth risking the friendship to ask Maren out. Shout out to Amy for sharing Maren’s number!

Alex and Maren had their first date at Urbane in Sheboygan. They met up for drinks and did not stop talking for over 3 hours - and they kept it to just one drink each!

Alex and Maren went searching for the perfect Christmas tree for his apartment. When they got to the apartment there were cookies on the table that spelled out “Will U B my Girl?” to which Maren made a joke and then said Yes! Then they got back to business setting up and decorating the tree.

Fast forward a year - Alex and Maren have kept their relationship strong. Dating during a pandemic is hard! Through communication and even a few virtual dates they were able to keep their love alive. On their one year anniversary Maren asks Alex to move in with her. And that kicks off their new adventure - roommates!

Alex asks Maren to marry him! On Christmas Eve night, Alex and Maren exchange Christmas gifts saving the stockings for last. Alex brings Maren over to the tree where the ring was hidden inside an ornament. As he struggles to open the ornament he keeps rambling. He finally gets it open and gets down on one knee. Maren, in shock, yells “Oh My God! Shut up! No!” and starts crying with her hands over her face. He asks if she’ll marry him and she says yes, of course!
