It was love at first sight for her on February 2018. Rissa had just moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles for her new job at Disney Animation Studios. During her first few weeks, she would often spend her break time in the cafe getting to know her fellow colleagues. On one of those seemingly normal days, she noticed a guy she hadn't met approaching her direction. He wore a dark blue buttoned down shirt, khaki pants and had long eyelashes that waved at you with every blink. In the cheesiest, tunnel vision, slow motion, heart racing, straight-out-of-a-movie effect, she had to know who he was.
Nick was racking his brain for a while thinking of how to ask Rissa on a date. Since their first interaction, the two would often hangout but they were always with a big group of friends. It wasn't exactly what he thought to be date worthy but it was enough to know two things: 1. They had undeniable chemistry and 2. He wanted to spend all his time with her. On one fateful Saturday morning, Nick mustered up the courage to ask Rissa to join him for a hike which, to his excitement, she agreed. LA was known for having beautiful hiking trails and stunning views of the mountains on one side with the city skyline on the other. What could be more perfect than that? The day ended up being just as sunny and the view just as beautiful as she was. He couldn’t tell which was brighter between the sun and her big smile. They had spent the hike quoting Disney & Pixar films and talking about their shared love for 70s music. At that time, Nick had learned that Rissa was going through an obsession with Elvis's version of Frank Sinatra's song, "My Way". Being a Sinatra fan himself, he loved everything about this and knew he wanted to know more. “How could I extend this already amazing date?”, he thought. At that moment, a mickey-shaped light bulb lit up above his head. He had proposed spending the rest of the day at Disneyland, which to his surprise and delight, she agreed! Thats twice in one day. He knew she must be crazy for agreeing but in that moment, he also knew he had found his girl.
Nick woke up nauseous and a little bit dizzy; this was the day he was going to propose to the love of his life. It had been a whole week vacation with both families at Disney World and the last day was Magic Kingdom - the big castle, fireworks, the whole shebang and as magical as it gets. He had scheduled a photoshoot under the guise of her dad’s birthday, which it was, so everyone planned to meet up right in front of Cinderella's castle. After all the group photos were taken, Nick and Rissa were the last couple to pose together. Rissa ended up having a solo photoshoot cause she loved her cute new minnie ears. In this moment, without her realizing, Nick backed up and went down on one knee. After what felt like an eternity of kneeling in a pool of his own sweat and hearing his heart beating out of his chest, the photographer finally directed Rissa to look to her left.. which ended up being her other left, and the rest is history. <3
