Rene & I met at a small Baptist church in Robstown, Texas some 30 plus years ago. I remember being in the same VBS class as he and then we went on to join the youth group. We took several summer trips to Astroworld, that was our big thing. We were fearless when it came to riding roller coasters but we would have to sneak around to hold hands and give each other quick hugs when we were at church. We both remember a very specific time when we were in a prayer meeting, we were supposed to be praying but one of us mouthed the words, "I like you" and the other quickly responded with getting back to praying. We then joined other church families and moved on to help start a non-denominational church. Among the usual youth group activities like Bible studies, playing softball, playing volleyball, attending concerts... We also had lots of fundraisers: selling candy apples, selling M&M's, selling plates (BBQ, enchiladas, tamales), etc... During our breaks at school, we also held mini-devotionals and went witnessing inviting other youth to church. We had a very active group and we wouldn't trade these times for anything in the world. Once we got to high school, we drifted apart and went our separate ways. We tried to reconnect several years ago but it wasn't good timing. Then, God happened! He joined us back together a couple of years ago and we are headed down the aisle in His perfect timing. We are so very excited to be united, elated to share this celebration with our family and close friends and also ecstatic that one of our former youth pastors will be officiating our ceremony. This will be a very special day for us all!
