We Did It!

October 25, 2024 was the best day of both of our lives. Thank you to all who have supported us, sent us well wishes, and especially attended our wedding! Below are the wedding vendors that did an excellent job. Please book them for your next event and tell them that the Dubois sent them! Our wedding coordinator Beth Dale at The Oasis made every planning visit, text, e-mail, and call exciting and smooth.

Marcus informed Gretchen that he and his dog Bear, would like to take her out for a drink for their first date. Gretchen agreed and they chose Lucky Duck, a dog-friendly bar in east Austin so they could both bring their dogs, Bear and Gus. Marcus arrived at Lucky Duck about 5 minutes prior to Gretchen. To his surprise, there was a line of men standing out the door. Was he being punked? Why was there a line of men out the door? Did this woman prank him into lining up to some real-life version of the bachelorette where she arranges multiple men to come to the same bar and compete? Much to his relief, Gretchen walked up to Lucky Duck with Gus, saw his big white dog Bear, and waved Marcus down. She was indeed here for a date, and not inside Lucky Duck planning a comedy sketch. They both agreed they did not want to have a drink with a bunch of random dudes lining up for Lucky Duck at 6pm. Marcus, Gretchen, Gus, and Bear walked 1 door over to Latchkey next door. Marcus, Gretchen, and their two dogs sat by the fire and they got to know each other. Bear even got jealous when he thought Gus got more treats than him and gave him a famous WOOWOOWOOWOO to let him know how he felt about that. Marcus and Gretchen exchanged numbers that same evening. Though both were busy with their jobs through Q4, they prioritized to see each other dozens of times through the holidays and early next year. We miss Gus terribly who lived a happy 15 years and crossed the rainbow bridge shortly after our first date. Both of us and our families were thrilled to have Gus join our first date. Bear is currently living with Marcus and Gretchen enjoying a life of treats, yogurt on his kibble, 3 walks a day, and sleeping on the bed when he's not supposed to.

Marcus and Gretchen have traveled all over the United States and Europe with each other! In 2024 they've enjoyed hosting friends and family in Austin while also prioritizing their close friends and family's life events. They traveled to San Francisco, San Angelo, the Oregon coast and Portland, Sacramento, London, Crete for their first Greek wedding, and a spontaneous roadtrip from Biloxi to Austin to move their Best Man to central Texas. They will be honeymooning in beautiful Curaçao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, immediately following the wedding.
