Lynchburg and Roanoke are both fairly close to plenty of winery and brewery options for a day trip if your'e in town for the weekend. Some of our personal favorites are Hazy Mountain Winery and Brewery as well as Blue Mountain Brewery. These are located on Rt. 151 nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Charley and Marcus actually got engaged at Hazy Mountain. All of these will have incredible views.
Rent kayaks for a few hours or take a planned trip down the James River for their popular Batteau ride.
