On a serendipitous New Year's Eve day in San Jose, California, Karissa and Marco excitedly prepared to ring in the year 2019. Karissa, on a last-minute whim, decided to join her friends for a Kaskade concert in San Francisco. Marco, an avid electronic music connoisseur, had been looking forward to the same event for several weeks. When Marco arrived at the pre-party, he glanced around at the sea of unknown faces, nervously hoping to catch a familiar smile. A ray of light dashed his vision, emanating from a white-clad angel in the room. Their eyes locked in a moment that felt like eternity. Marco bent over to take his shoes off, gazed up again and there was the angel with cheerful eyes before him. "Hi! I'm Karissa!" "Hey I'm Marco! Are you excited to see Kaskade?" "Oh, I don't really know Kaskade. Can I get you a beer?" "Oh, I don't drink beer. I'll grab something else." "Ok - I'll see you around then..." "Yeah, see you around..." The moment flopped, but the electricity lingered. "Who is this angel?" Marco wondered. "I hope this curly-haired man talks to me again," Karissa wished. Alas, the two romantics would have their chance again. They sheepishly avoided it until the after-party. The new year brought a new opportunity for connection, and they spent the wee hours of the twilight poring over every detail of their dreams and ambitions. In the months that followed, they wasted no time and sought every opportunity to learn more about each other. Their bond was built on a foundation of music, humor, adventure, and curiosity. One of their fondest memories was their second date, where they attended a yoga rave in downtown San Francisco followed by a happy hardcore rave in Oakland. This pattern followed as Marco and Karissa planned frequent "double headers", a term they adopted for date nights involving at least two events in a row. After work, Marco would ride an electric scooter from his office in San Francisco to wherever Karissa was. Other times, Karissa rode the train down to San Jose, where Marco resided. It wasn't long before they travelled together, exploring the wonders of Colombia and Mexico City, always dancing the night away. Marco and Karissa's mutual enthusiasm for life and each other fostered a strong foundation of friendship and respect. Of course 2019 led into 2020, and Marco and Karissa found themselves together 24/7. They made the best of the situation, rearranging their small apartment to become their shared office. Now co-workers, they thought about the possibilities in a new world, imagining a universe where they could bring together their parents to the same city, and eventually create a family surrounded by love and support. In February 2022, Marco and Karissa began their next chapter in life in Denver, Colorado. They felt a special connection to the city because of its rich musical and arts scene, its proximity to majestic mountains and new wonders to explore, and it felt like a worthy place to raise a family. Their dreams became reality when both sets of their parents eventually moved to Denver, truly solidifying the sense that this was "home." To this day, Marco and Karissa still work side-by-side in their new home office, forever inseparable.
