Their incredibly, cute story began in March of 2016 when they both attended a small kickback on Southern Poly's campus. They shared a small conversation and exchanged social media profiles. Now, they did exchange a few *glances* here and there, but nothing too serious. 🤭 Over the years, they stayed connected through Instagram and saw each other a few times through hangouts with mutual friends. Xavier showered Maiya with compliments about her dance skills and funny videos, while she gave him major props on his vibes and tattoo art. They weren't besties, but they were good friends! Fast forward to April of 2019 when Maiya was doing a poem video that was about a recent heartbreak she experienced. When pondering about a male co-star who would take the passion project seriously, her thoughts went to Xavier. He happily obliged, as he had a growing crush on Maiya and saw the opportunity as a way to (potentially) expand the relationship. Sparks were FLYING at the shoot! Who knew that a heartbreak poem video could lead to a dreamy romance? It wasn't long until they started hanging out every day and eventually dating. They enjoyed sharing funny stories, listening to their favorite neo-soul/R&B albums, and talking about building a family one day. Four years later, Xavier got down on one knee — and Maiya was saying "Yes!" before he even got a chance to say his speech. Tears were flowing and they couldn't wait to start *forever* together.
