The story of us began many years ago back in the day when we met on BlackPlanet 🤣! We dated briefly but both of us were engulfed with other aspects of our lives. We both would go on to lead separate lives and lost touch for over 20 years. Although we weren’t in contact with one another, we both would occasionally look each other up on social media to see how the other’s life was going. Never daring to break the silence but be content with observation from afar. In 2022, Mai stumbled across the TikTok page of Derrick and sent him a friend request. This opened the door to polite conversation and funny videos being shared here and there. We were new strangers with shared moments from the past. In July of 2023 Derrick randomly reached out and informed he’d be in Dallas officiating a friends wedding. A request was made just to meet and catch up. It was to be two old friends simply sharing a meal! Boy were we unprepared for the feelings that such meeting caused to resurface! The next day Derrick informed Mai that he had to see her again and cut his time short at his friend’s wedding reception simply to share more time together! This time we met at Trinity Grove in Dallas, ate, laughed, and retreated to the Art Park to sit in big red oversized chairs and talk for hours under the stars. We said our goodbyes and immediately knew that the feelings and love we had for one another never died! We have communicated with each other daily since! We have shared trips, laughter, moments, holidays, and integrated each other into the other’s lives! On NYE 2023 Derrick proposed in front of his family and a crowd full of people! Mai promptly said yes! A love like ours is rare and not many get a second chance at their ultimate love! We have and are excited about the moments we have yet to share! July 14, 2024 we shall walk into our Forever & A Day!!
