Skyler and Mailani met back in high school; at the time, Skyler was a senior and Mailani was a freshman. That year, Skyler and Mailani both won a spot on the homecoming court and had considered one another good friends (see throwback photos of the two in the "Gallery" tab). Skyler graduated that year and went off to college, and did some traveling due to baseball. Meanwhile, Mailani completed her 4 years of high school and was starting up a career in the wedding/hospitality industry. After losing touch for over 8 years, they finally reconnected... over Instagram! Skyler was bold enough to ask Mailani out on a date and the rest was HIS.TOR.Y

Skyler had originally planned to take Mailani skydiving and propose to her once they landed on the ground. He had coordinated both his and her family to meet at ShadowBrook restaurant to surprise her and congratulate her. However, on the morning of the jump, Skyler received an email notifying him that the jump had to be rescheduled due to aircraft maintenance. YIKES! This caused a slight panic, reasonably so. Skyler decided to pivot and came up with a brilliant plan B. Instead, he decided to take Mailani to Panther Beach. Panther is a very special place to both of them as this is where they had their first beach date! There are awesome memories of that particular date because this was also where Skyler told Mailani that she was "the one". It was a no-brainer that Panther Beach would be the perfect place for Skyler to ask for Mailani's hand in marriage. He popped the question near the water and asked her to be his forever. SHE SAID YES! They laughed, cried and of course took some pictures for the gram... then off they were to an "intimate" dinner date at ShadowBrook. Little did Mailani know that both families were there waiting to congratulate and celebrate with them! More laughter, tears and pictures of course! This was one of the first moments that both families were brought together in celebration, but far from the last!
