Tom and Maike met online in serendipitously millennial fashion - they immediately connected over their cats, astrology, literature and love of weird electronic music. After texting and talking nonstop for two weeks, their first in-person date happened two days after the 2016 winter solstice at the Philadelphia Art Museum. As Tom and Maike explored the museum together hand-in-hand, they continued to bond over their travels, dreams, and visions for where life would take them (going so far as to plan out their future home inspired by decor in the Oriental Art exhibit). The connection they had forged was undeniable and instantaneous - as if they had always known another - and would only grow stronger. Gradually, they began to bridge their lives together - navigating graduate school and continuing education, commuting between the suburbs and the city, co-parenting, and career changes. In January 2023, after celebrating 6 years together, Tom proposed to Maike in front of Gullfoss Waterfall in Iceland's Golden Circle, where she had traveled solo almost exactly seven years prior. Now, we are honored to host a celebration of our love's journey.
