COVID-19 Update

Dear Family and Friends, First and foremost, we hope that you and your families are healthy and safe. I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a year like no other. We are looking forward with optimism as 2021 approaches, with a special emphasis on May 22! On May 22, Maggie and Steve will begin their journey together as husband and wife. Unfortunately, one of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic is the cancellation of Maggie and Steve's "North Fork" wedding. Due to the uncertainty of the world today, and after much thought and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to down-size the wedding. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible while complying with state and local guidelines, we will host the reception at our home in Huntington. Naturally, we would love to celebrate this joyous event with all of you......however, given the current circumstances, we hope that you will be able to attend their wedding ceremony at St. Patrick's or join us via live stream (details to follow). The pandemic has limited us in many aspects of our lives, but in this case, love will prevail. Having your support, encouragement and understanding is the greatest gift you can give to Maggie and Steve over the next few months. Wishing you all the best this holiday season! John and Kate Kiernan *For those guests who have booked rooms at Hotel Indigo or Holiday Inn Express in Riverhead, the hotel blocks have been cancelled.

How He Asked

"Are we still going to see Billy Joel?"

Friday, November 15, 2019, just another night in NYC. The plan was dinner and drinks, then off to see Billy Joel at the Garden with friends. Heading out, Steve "forgot his wallet at work" so we needed to make a detour to the office. Little did I know, this was the beginning of a well-orchestrated plan and it wasn't exactly his wallet he needed to grab. On our way to the bar, Steve's typical "go with the flow" personality was overshadowed by demanding several specific requests. He insisted we take the long, scenic, out-of-the-way route along the Hudson River. We had to rush, pick up the pace and get to the bar. In hindsight, the fact that we couldn't just take an Uber should have been the biggest giveaway. A few minutes into the walk, Steve couldn't keep it in any longer. He let me know that we weren't spending the night with Billy Joel and we weren't going to dinner with friends. Hearing this sudden change of plans, I realized he stopped walking with me and I turned around to see him getting down on one knee. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a little black box and asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him! As the tears started to flow, I threw my arms around him and yelled out the easiest "YES" of my life! Steve had one more request. Take his hand, savor this moment, ask no questions (which was nearly impossible for me) and let's make our way to Pier A. As soon as we entered the bar and I heard the cheering and clapping of family and friends, I couldn't believe this night could possibly get any better. It was perfect. The party continued all weekend long and I still can't believe Steve pulled this off! We are so excited for May 22 and already can't wait to celebrate and dance the night away! - Maggie & Steve
