Proposal Story

5/26/22

To sum it up: it was a day someone could never forget. We had made plans to visit our first vacation location, but this time we had to bring Lucille (our doggo) and stay on Mackinac Island for a night. That Thursday it was anything but a sunny & 75 degree day. It was cloudy & 40 degrees, in MAY! Lucille had her first ferry ride and by the time we were ready to explore the island, we had four layers of clothes on. So after we finally retrieved our misplaced luggage, we were ready for dinner. After dinner at our favorite restaurant on the island, we ventured to “Arch Rock”, a cliff overlook where you could view the lake and other parts of the island. Mind you, it was 1.5 miles away from the restaurant, up 217 stairs, and I was in heeled boots (I was not prepared to walk far, and they were the warmest shoes I packed). Once reaching “Arch Rock”, while I was showing Lucille the sights, Russ was getting ready for his big moment. After hearing “Maggie Pat, you’re going to marry me right?” from behind me, I turn around to see a white Shane company box, and as Russ says “almost flung the ring off the cliff”. After approximately 20 minutes of freaking out and asking “are you sure?” and “really?”, a yes was finally said. All the while Lucille couldn’t care less what was going on and decided to explore the area instead. After a while, I think Lucille realized this meant we could all have the same last name!
