Through daily visitors, a statewide educational outreach programs and the NAEYC-accredited SCI Preschool, the Science Center of Iowa serves more than 300,000 people annually.
THE WORLD FOOD PRIZE HALL OF LAUREATES tells a story in every room – from the building’s rich history as the Des Moines Public Library, to the Foundation’s celebrated agricultural and humanitarian pioneers there is something for every visitor. Built between 1900 and 1903, this century-old building has been restored into a museum that celebrates those who have dedicated their lives to fighting hunger around the world. The Hall of Laureates is a beautiful space of learning and collaboration, and we welcome you to visit.

Built between 1871 and 1886, the Iowa State Capitol is an impressive Iowa landmark. The 1.4 million gross square foot building features a large golden dome, towering 275 feet above the ground floor. The exterior of this large dome is gilded with 100 troy ounces of 23-karat gold leaf.
The 4.4 acre park, located within a major crossroads of the urban grid, creates a pedestrian-friendly entryway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States.
