A variety of factors led to our decision, but the most prominent was the continued spread of COVID-19. We have been delighted to see the number of COVID-19 cases falling as vaccines have become more widespread, but experts do not expect the spread of the virus to slow sufficiently until at least later in the summer (see, for example, https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/01/28/960901166/how-is-the-covid-19-vaccination-campaign-going-in-your-state). The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic also made it difficult to plan a full-sized wedding very far in advance, and because of these challenges, we felt it would be best to keep our in-person celebration small and safe.
You can find a personalized link to our YouTube livestream under the "Schedule" tab of this website. Unfortunately, clicking the link won't work (it's not a hyperlink), so you will need to copy and paste the URL into your browser (e.g., the Google search bar), or else you can type it in directly. The stream will go live at 10:30 am CDT for the 11 am ceremony.
We sure hope so! Casual gatherings are in the works for after the threat of COVID-19 is gone, both in Wisconsin and in Pennsylvania. We'll keep you posted!
If you received an online-only invitation, no need to RSVP! But we do ask that family and wedding party members who were invited to attend in person please RSVP (under the "RSVP" tab above) no later than May 29th.
Maggie and Nigel have heard from a couple guests about RSVP troubles and have been able to work through the problem on their end. You may just need to fill in some information about one or more members of your party; for example, if we are missing the last name of one of your party members, you will need to click the pencil icon next to their name and supply the last name for us before you submit your RSVP. If you're still having trouble, let Maggie or Nigel know, and they'd be happy to help you out!
If your invitation says "and Guest," then yes, but if not, we would prefer if it was just you. We want to share our celebration with as many friends and family members as we can, but given the risks currently associated with large gatherings, we unfortunately can't include everybody.
Go with dressy casual, but don't overthink it! Just wear your mask and something comfortable for a June day. (Keep in mind that the ceremony is indoors, but the reception will be outside if the weather holds!)
Although we and many of our guests are vaccinated, we understand that not everyone is. For this reason, we are still asking that all guests join us in wearing masks when they are indoors and/or within 6 feet of anyone outside of their household/COVID pod. We'll do our best to seat family members with their households/pods (and/or with vaccinated guests) at the reception, leaving at least 6 feet of space between groups. While the ceremony is indoors, all eating will occur outdoors in a tent (weather permitting) for extra circulation. Extra masks and hand sanitizer will also be available. We ask that all in-person guests monitor their symptoms and join us via livestream if they notice COVID-19 symptoms or have recently been exposed to an infected person. See the CDC website for more information on preventing the spread of COVID-19: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html.
