Harjot and I met at a time where romance was the last thing on my mind, and as I later came to find out, the last thing on his mind as well. I was 17 years old, finishing up my final year of high school, and about to embark on my new adventure of moving to Hawaii and beginning my freshman year of college. It was my last year attending our friend Katie's annual St. Patrick's Day party as a high schooler. I passed by Harjot in the crowd of people. Recognizing him from high school, I said a quick hello, invited him to a swing dancing club our mutual friends would go to, and continued on to hang out with my friends for the night. To my surprise, Harjot began to come dancing every week. Our friends and us began to hang out together on a regular basis. The weeks went by, and I remained oblivious to his very obvious flirting. One thing led to another and he finally asked me on a date.... and, oh yea, he asked me on Facebook messenger. I wasn't sure what to expect or if we would stay together when I moved, and the future seemed so unknown. But I did know that my heart was drawn to him. So after some thought and lots of prayer, I gave it a chance. Over the years we have supported each other through long distance, school changes, career path changes, moving, health difficulties, and all that life brings. Through it all Harjot has remained my place of peace, joy, and complete comfort. I have never known someone with a heart as generous as his. I can now see that we met at God's perfect time. I am so glad I took a chance on opening my heart, because it changed my life forever.
