This is where Madison works part time and is also our wedding venue! The house was originally a stop along the Westport Route of the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trails in the 1800s and has since been restored into a living history museum, complete with a working farm that includes horses, chickens, and pigs.
Oops! Another one of Madison's part-time jobs. This charming, women-owned business sells anything and everything you could possibly want—from home décor to apparel, jewelry to candles, snacks and drinkware, stationary, toys, and more. You name it, they've got it! And be sure to pop over across the street to visit Junque Drawer's Holiday House, which is filled to the brim with Christmas goodies!
Locally owned, Red Crow Brewing Company is located on the west side of Olathe and boasts a spacious beer hall with great drinks and delicious food trucks.
If you're in the mood for trails of beautiful fall foliage, look no further than Ernie Miller Park in west Olathe. It's also where we had our engagement photos taken!
It's a bit of a jaunt west, but KC Wine Co. is a boutique winery and vineyard here in Olathe. Enjoy their variety of wines, ciders, and famous wine slushes inside cozy interior and exterior spaces. Be sure to check their calendar for special events and festivals.
Featured in season 3 of the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series, 'Queer Eye,' Jones Bar-B-Q in Kansas City, Kansas has become a family favorite, and it's all in the sauce. Give it a try for lunch Saturday before the wedding. We recommend getting there early (usually around 11-ish) as they often sell out before 1 PM.
For those looking to make the most of their Kansas City metro weekend, we've got tons of museums including the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum at 18th & Vine, and the Steamboat Arabia Museum in the River Market. But the one that tops just about every tourist list is the National WWI Museum right across from Union Station. Enjoy a bit of history or just take in the truly spectacular views of the city.
