How We Met

November 20, 2017

In 2017, Peyton and I were set up by two of our best friends, Sydney and Brooks. We all went bowling and I can honestly say it was super awkward. Peyton and I are both quiet around new crowds and it was hard to open up when you felt like you had an audience. But it didn’t take long for us to spark up conversations about our lives and who we were. After 2 months of getting to know each other, we decided to be ‘official’ as most people call it today. I wish I could sit here and tell you about this fairytale movie love story but Peyton and I found love in the simplest of ways- we just got to know each other. We talked about our families, our past, our mistakes, our successes and our wants for the future. It didn’t take long to realize that I had gained a new best friend. I cannot believe where we are today and all I can do is look to heaven and thank Jesus for all He has given us, all He has done for us, and all that He is able to do for us. I write this today with tears in my eyes and a full heart knowing that Jesus answered my prayers. He is SO good! I love you, Peyt. Thank you for choosing me to be your wife!

The Proposal

April 4, 2021

Peyton had a plan and anyone that knows me knows I’m a hard person to surprise. We woke up Easter Sunday morning with the same plan to head to church and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Our best friends, Brooks and Sydney were invited to go with us and of course accepted as they knew the plan. We got ready as normal and headed off to church. The worship and service was amazing! After church we headed up to the cross our church built to “take Easter pictures together.” When it was our turn for the picture, we smiled and Sydney snapped the pic- Peyton turned to me and said “I actually have something I need to ask you.” My heart sank in the best of ways. He got down on his knee, looked me in my eyes and asked me to marry him. In shock, I could not find the breath to say yes even though my heart was screaming it. I’m not used to being caught off guard- so that tells you what an amazing job he did planning every detail. I think my exact words were, “what in the world?” Peyton said, “so is that a yes?” as I stood there frozen. I finally caught my breath and of course it was a huge YES! He then proceeded to say “grab the ring” like he wasn’t supposed to place it on my finger. I think back to how innocent and young we were in the moment- by that I mean, we learned together the process of even getting engaged. The every step of it, the motions, the choices, and the love in it all. To me, it symbolizes our future- learning the way together. We look back and laugh on how perfectly imperfect it all was. I’m overwhelmed with joy watching us take every day step-by-step. I feel like that’s all we can do in life, set out on the journey we were given to grow together, learn together, being made one together- how special that our creator has His favor upon us. I’m so thankful Jesus chose Peyton for me. I cannot wait to do life with you, Peyton- and all of our awkward, go-with-the-flow moments that we will spend together and cherish. Here is to the beginning of our forever! 🥂🤍✨
