In elementary school, we met through the GIYRA little league football program. Dylan played football and Maddy was a cheerleader. We would meet in passing several times over our adolescent years but didn't fully develop a close friendship until high school. In high school we found ourselves in different social circles as we went to different schools. But as the years went on, we grew into very close friends with an intertwined group; all of whom are sure to be at the wedding. By senior year, we were inseparable. We began to spend almost every day together the summer before college, most of which involved Dylan chasing Maddy and Maddy convincing everyone we were "just friends". A real bond began to form. The "aha moment" finally came just before we went off to colleges 2 hours apart. At long last an inseparable friendship would develop into a beautiful relationship that has grown so much over the past 6 years. We have truly grown together going from young, bright eyed kids to blossoming adults ready to take on the turbulence of adulthood together, with love. Our journey from elementary school friends to college sweethearts is proof of the power of friendship and timing. The memories we've created, the lessons we've learned and the love that has grown between us is a beautiful testimate of this and will surely continue as time goes on.
On December 23rd 2022, which also happened to be the coldest day in Metro Detroit in the last five years, she said YES. Dylan wanted to get dressed up and go to a nice dinner, so he made reservations at a romantic, moody restaurant in downtown Detroit. From there Dylan guided Maddy on a (frigid) walk to the famous Parker's Alley right behind the Shinola hotel which was lit up with twinkle lights and decorated with Christmas garland. If we all know Dylan's secret keeping capabilities, Maddy may have known something was going on. None the less, when he got on one knee all of her dreams came true. What made this moment even more special, was all the cheering and excitement that magically came from the previously thought empty Alley. This was all of their family and friends joining in on the celebration. Trying to conceptualize what was happening while experiencing a feeling that can best be described as "blacking out" Maddy was over joyed by the surprise of her friends & family, the clicks of the hidden photographer's camera and Dylan's proposal. It was easy to say he knocked it out of the park. Even with the frigid temps and Dylan somewhat showing his cards, the night was absolutely perfect and there was a no hesitation YES from Maddy. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you! Be prepared for the big Wedding Day to fall on the hottest day of the year… See you in Saline!
