Dan grew up in Phoenixville, PA whereas I grew up in Skippack, PA; we knew some of the same people, but our paths never crossed when we were in high school. We met while Dan was in the army, stationed in Hawaii, and I was in nursing school in PA. Dan reached out to me online and asked for my number, and surprisingly, I obliged. We talked for about 4 months through text, facetime, and letters/care packages when Dan finally asked me on a date for when he would be home on leave. I said no at first, not wanting any distraction while I was in nursing school. However, he convinced me and I met him in person in June of 2017. From there, the rest was history. We quickly fell in love, meeting each others families, friends, and loved ones. He became loved and cherished to my family, and I became loved and cherished to his family. I knew he was the one, but we knew there were some logistical details that would need to be worked out if our relationship was going to go any further. Dan was in the military, and I was still in nursing school. When Dan and I met, Dan had just recently reenlisted in the US Army. If we were going to continue our relationship after his leave, it would have to be long distance. Long distance was tough, but through our love, devotion, face-time date nights, care packages, and more, we were able to survive the 2 and a half years our long distance endured. During Dan's time in Hawaii, he flew home on multiple occasions to see me, during holidays, summer break, and short 4-day leaves. Even during his military career, Dan was always my supporter, and was always there to cheer me on during school. About a year into our relationship, Dan was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky; the distance was much shorter than an 11-hour plane ride, which meant I could see Dan a lot more. However, as we grew more in love, the distance became harder and harder. Dan decided not to reenlist in the military so we could spend our lives together.
In May of 2019, I graduated school. We knew if we were to have any sort of future together, it would be after I was done school, and he was out of the military. Dan had about 1 year left of his enlistment before he could come home. Dan made it home for my graduation in May of 2019, and we were scheduled to go to Disney World as a family to celebrate my graduation. On May 13, 2019 Dan proposed to me in front of the Castle in Magic Kingdom. If you know me, you know I love Disney World; so I was shocked and ecstatic. What made it better was my entire family was there with me. Unfortunately, I almost foiled Dan's proposal plans numerous times, as I did not want to be late for our space mountain fast-passes; imagine Dan's surprise and horror having to go on a rollercoaster with a diamond ring in his pocket. However, Dan and I stopped in front of the castle to get a picture when he asked me to marry him; it was perfect. At the end of our trip, Dan flew back to Kentucky from Orlando, and I flew back to PA with my family. We didn't know when we would see each other next. I saw Dan next during the summer for a brief moment, but then really got to spend time with him during the 2019 holiday season. When Dan came home on leave, life was put on hold; I wanted to spend all my time with him. After the holidays, I wouldn't see Dan again until May of 2020. We had just 6 more months of long distance, and then it would finally be done, we would be home together, and plan the wedding of our dreams. Or so we thought. In March of 2020, Coronavirus hit. I was a nurse in a busy, local community hospital caring for covid patients daily, while Dan was trying to adjust to civilian life and excel in his new career as an HVAC technician. Any wedding and house-hunting plans we previously had were out the window. We had to move our wedding to 2022 to ensure we could have our relaxed, unrestricted day we deserved. We thank you for celebrating our love story. We are so glad to have you here.
